Researching Science Communication

The Science Communication Transfer Unit is a joint project of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences (BBAW) and Wissenschaft im Dialog (WiD), funded by Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research. It provides access to communication research results, which can help researchers reach a wider audience for their projects. It sounds complicated, but it’s extremely useful. We worked with the Transfer Unit to sort through the topics and present this exciting project in a streamlined and attractive website format.

For this project, we handled the complete design and technical development of the website. The frontend is based on a modern headless architecture using Gatsby (React) and Tailwind CSS, enabling extremely fast loading times and an optimal user experience. WordPress serves as the content management system, seamlessly integrated into the static build process via a GraphQL interface.

Particular attention was paid to the accessible presentation of complex content and the integration of interactive elements such as a word cloud section and dynamic topic filters.

Beyond the launch, we support the Transfer Unit with ongoing maintenance, continuous security updates, and the platform's functional development. This ensures that the portal remains performant even with growing content volumes and is always technologically up-to-date.
